Just making Conversations (Magazine)

Why am I reading Conversations Magazine? Well, not only does it have many great profile articles of people in the arts, but it also has book reviews, including a review of my book, Cheeseland.

There it is, on page 24 of the Sept./Oct. issue of Conversations Magazine, Cyrus Webb's review of "Cheeseland". Cyrus writes, "Delivered with skill and captivating from beginning to end, Cheeseland reminds us of the preciousness of life and the importance of making the most of each and every day." Nice.

The Write Stuff

My blog tour takes me this week to Dina Rae's Write Stuff. Dina is the author of three suspense novels, Halo of the Damned, The Last Degree and Bad Juju. Be sure to check out her website and don't leave without buying her books. I love that she throws in all these extras in her interview with me, including a music clip of Little Walter's "Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights)" and the super cool pic of Samuel L. Dina also surprised me with a very nice review of Cheeseland, which she calls a "five star drama" and likens to Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes and Dennis Lehane's Mystic River. She sure knows how to put a smile on the face of a fellow author.

Sunday Salon Chicago

This Sunday, Sept. 30, I'll be reading at Sunday Salon Chicago. If you join me at Black Rock Bar, 3614 N. Damen Ave., and mention this blog post, I'll buy you a beer. (I hear they've got some great beers on tap.) The event benefits Rose Metal Press, and they'll be raffling off a pair of tickets to the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins concert (donated by yours truly - I've got to stop drinking and donating).

Author Afternoon Video

A 2-minute clip from my hour-long interview with Penny Golden Oct. 23 at the Beverly Arts Center. This is the beginning of the interview, and I'm pretty sure I got better as it progressed ... I can only hope. A big thank you to friend and fellow author Samantha Hoffman for the video.
